Crime Stoppers CO of the Year – Conservation Officer Rob Dietz has been honoured with the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers’ MNR Officer of the Year Award for 2005. This award, which Dietz has now received six times, is given to the MNR officer who most effectively contributes to the Crime Stoppers program by dedicating time and effort to promoting and raising awareness of Crime Stoppers.
In the words of Dave Ferris, O.P.P. Coordinator of the Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers:
“Rob has been the MNR Liaison Officer with the Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers since 1993 and he has won the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers MNR Officer of the Year Award in the years 1995, 96, 99, 2000, 2001 and now again in 2005. Each year, the Crime Stoppers programs across the province submit a nomination for the MNR Officer award based on the officer’s participation at Crime Stoppers related events and with the overall promotion of the program.
“Rob has initiated the Crime Stoppers "Fishing Lure" project and the "Blow the Whistle" campaign where lures and whistles with the Crime Stoppers logo are handed out as promotional tools by the local Conservation Officers and Police Officers on an annual basis.
“Also, each year, on his own time Rob organizes and runs the annual Wild Game Dinner as a fundraising event for the Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers. He attends Crime Stoppers board meetings and updates everyone with the happenings of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Rob certainly is a great MNR representative and the time he dedicates to the Crime Stoppers program is certainly appreciated.”
