Alan Farrer, Kenora West Enforcement Supervisor Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources
This award recognizes outstanding public service in helping the Ontario Ombudsman to effectively resolve complaints. The recipients were nominated by staff in the Ombudsman’s office and chosen by a committee chaired by the Ombudsman. They were selected using the following criteria:
- demonstrated leadership in informal problem solving and the early resolution of complaints;
- initiated innovative approaches to alternative dispute resolution;
- encouraged the application of system-wide problem solving; and
- provided exceptional responsiveness and cooperation during the investigation process.
The awards were presented at a ceremony in the Ombudsman’s office in Toronto on February 28, 2001. In his remarks, Ombudsman Clare Lewis noted that six of the 11 awards were being presented to MNR staff and he complimented the ministry on the dedication and professionalism of its staff.
